about energex

corporate responsibility, OUR responsibility

At ENERGEX, Corporate Responsibility (CR) is more than just a mantra – it is an essential part of the way we do business in the community.

For many years ENERGEX has strived to ensure its operations reflect positively on the business while working from a socially and environmentally sustainable approach.

We take seriously the need to deliver our services to the community with minimal impact and positive outcomes while providing a safe and supportive workplace for ENERGEX staff.

We have also recently joined a list of notable Australian organisations that have opened their doors to a full and forensic independent reputation audit to gain an internationally recognised Corporate Responsibility Index (CRI).

More information about Corporate Responsibility Index can be found here:

our CR priorities:

community responsibility

At ENERGEX, we are very proud of the strong and positive reputation we’ve built over many years and never take this goodwill for granted.corp_gov

Our aim is to impress our stakeholders with unprecedented high levels of interaction and continue to review these processes as community expectations change.

Whether it’s answering a simple enquiry or connecting a large commercial organisation to the South East Queensland power network, we will continue to give our staff the training, tools and skills required to ensure the delivery of our services to the community are world class.

For us, being a good corporate citizen doesn’t just mean the responsible delivery of high quality energy related goods and services. We also believe that being part of the community means supporting its endeavours through our $1.6 million annual community sponsorship program.

business ethics

We maintain a longstanding commitment to the community to conduct and report on the affairs of the business transparently and honestly while maintaining processes that ensure our staff, at all levels, understand these responsibilities.

Furthermore, these responsibilities are also at the forefront of our business decisions to ensure they take into account community economical, social and environmental sensitivities.

Our business operations are also monitored and scrutinised by the ENERGEX Board. The Board works to ensure our commitment to stakeholders and the community are carried out within strict governance frameworks.

environment

It is our responsibility to be aware of all current and future impacts our business may have on the environment.

Our team of environmental specialists work to ensure our operations have as minimal impact on the environment as possible and best practice systems are adhered to and continually improved.environment

We also channel significant, operational, capital works and sponsorship funds into managing a comprehensive program involving recycling, revegetation and offsetting carbon emissions.

Furthermore we have recently revisited and enhanced our Environmental Strategy, Sustainability report and Carbon Management Plan.

workplace

Simply, our staff are ENERGEX. They are highly skilled and committed with each member truly valued as an integral part of the ENERGEX team.workplace

Our team has a diverse skill base of specialised roles that ensures South East Queensland’s electricity supply is safe, robust and reliable.

With such an important workforce delivering an essential service, staff retention is a priority for ENERGEX.

We treat our team fairly and with dignity while providing excellent working conditions conducive to helping staff realise their own career goals and aspirations.

We believe these reasons are major factors behind our very low staff turnover rates and some of the best retention statistics in the country.
