Buderim residents can now join state’s first Energy Conservation Community

Residents of Buderim can now become part of Queensland’s first Energy Conservation Community with the initiative’s website now live and ready to take registrations from this area.

Residents who join the Sunshine Coast Energy Conservation Community will receive a free energy conservation package worth up to $800, including the installation of electricity conservation devices that aim to reduce the amount of power used during peak times.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Bob Abbot is encouraging residents of Buderim to join residents from Mooloolaba, Sippy Downs and Mountain Creek and become part of the Energy Conservation Community to help make the Sunshine Coast Australia’s most sustainable region.

“We have extended the Energy Conservation Community into Buderim after we received strong support and many enquiries from local residents who are interested in sustainability on the Sunshine Coast.

“This will give over 8,000 additional residents the opportunity to join already participating households in Mooloolaba, Sippy Downs and Mountain Creek keen to show their commitment to ongoing sustainability in the Sunshine Coast region.”

ENERGEX’s North Coast Asset Manager Steven Lynch is impressed with the number of households who are committed to sustainability and have registered to be part of the Energy Conservation Community.

“Since the Energy Conservation Community was launched earlier this year on the Sunshine Coast, we have received over 330 registrations to be part of this great initiative. It is great to see local residents are keen to do their part and help reduce electricity peak demand.

“We are encouraging Buderim residents who would like more information about the initiative to visit the website or come and talk to the Energy Conservation Community representatives at the information booth at the Buderim Marketplace.”
