Electrical fitter mechanics (EFMs) build, repair and maintain our electricity infrastructure - overhead, underground and substation power supply equipment. They’re qualified electricians working on substations rather than houses or buildings. The role of an EFM is quite technical and especially suits people who like problem solving.
Typical workdays include:
- Maintaining and building substations
- Emergency repair work
- Investigating power supply problems
- Connecting customers.
